Legendary WWE Superstar John Cena retired from professional entertainment wrestling after losing his last match in Washington DC.

Cena appeared at the Saturday Night Main Event and faced Gunther in his final match.

After a back and forth battle, John Cena tapped out to Gunther’s sleeper hold and lost the match.

A packed audience, including current and former WWE superstars gave Cena a standing ovation as the legend left the ring/

Cena removed his shows and wrist-bands and placed them in the middle of the ring and left after acknowledging his fans one last time.

The wrestler turned actor performed for the WWE from 2001 to 2025, and is a record setting 17-time world champion.

Cena held numerous championships and accomplishments in WWE, including the WWE Championship a record 14 times, the World Heavyweight Championship three times, the WWE United States Championship five times, the WWE Intercontinental Championship once, and the World Tag Team Championship and WWE Tag Team Championship twice each.

He is the 35th Triple Crown and 25th Grand Slam champion. Cena also won the Royal Rumble match twice, the Money in the Bank match once, and headlined multiple major WWE pay-per-view and livestreaming events, including its flagship event, WrestleMania, six times.
