German actor Udo Kier, known for his roles in Blade, Ace Ventura and several other movies, has died, aged 81.
Kier passed away in hospital at Palm Springs, California.
The actor appeared in over 200 films and has collaborated with the likes of Lars von Trier, Gus Van Sant, Werner Herzog, Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Walerian Borowczyk, Kleber Mendonça Filho, Dario Argento, Tom Shadyac, Charles Matton, Guy Maddin, Alexander Payne, and Paul Morrissey.
Kier played the role of billionaire exotic animal collector Ronald Camp in the movie Ace Ventura Pet Detective and as an elder statesman vampire in Blade.
The actor also appeared in Madonna’s controversial book Sex and also appeared in the music videos for Madonna’s songs “Erotica” and “Deeper and Deeper”, both taken from Madonna’s 1992 album Erotica.
Kier was born in Cologne, Germany but moved to London at the age of 18.
